Hood, Taylor selected as preseason all-conference performers as upcoming season nears

SAN MARCOS, TX — Monday morning, the Sun Belt Conference announced Da'Nasia Hood and Kennedy Taylor have earned preseason all-conference recognitions that precedes the upcoming Texas State women's basketball season.

Hood, who is a two-time All-Sun Belt First Team performer, and Taylor, who earned All-Sun Second Team honors last season, were selected to the Sun Belt's Preseason All-Conference First and Second Teams, respectively.

Additionally, the Bobcats, which finished sixth in the conference last season, was selected fifth in the 2022-23 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

"I could not be prouder of Da'Nasia and Kennedy for earning these preseason recognitions," said Texas State women's basketball head coach Zenarae Antoine. "Unlike the postseason honors that span just that season, these preseason awards are true representations of their bodies of work throughout their Bobcat careers. We will learn on these two as pillars for this upcoming season and I couldn't be more excited to watch Da'Nasia and Kennedy excel.

"As far as preseason coaches' poll, we look at that more as a measuring stick of where people think we are and use it as motivation to get to where we want to be by the end of the season. It's a great day to be a Bobcat!"

Hood, who will enter the upcoming Texas State women's basketball season ranked 10th on the program's career scoring list, ranked in the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference in seven different statistical categories. Additionally, the San Antonio native led the Bobcats in eight different statistical categories, including points per game (16.9) and rebounds per game (8.0).

Taylor, who will enter this season within striking distance of the program's career assist record, finished last season ranked 14th in the nation with 183 total assists, which led the Sun Belt and were the second most by a Bobcat in the program's single-season history. Her 6.3 assists per game average was the seventh-highest mark in Division I women's basketball and the top spot in the conference.
