SAN MARCOS, Texas – A trip to Houston on Thursday will see the Texas State soccer team (1-1-1) face No. 13 Rice (4-0-0) at 7 p.m. at Holloway Field. It will be the third time in the last four seasons that the Bobcats have faced a ranked opponent.

Kiara Gonzales tallied her first goal of the season in the first half to extend her points streak to three consecutive matches. Both
Bailey Peschel and
Kamaria Williams were credited with an assist on the tally for their second and first assists of the season, respectively.
Katelyn Chrisman made her second straight start in goal and made four saves on the afternoon.

Rice enters the week ranked in all three national polls (#13/Top Drawer Soccer; #15/College Soccer New; #19/United Soccer Coaches). This past weekend, the Owls won both matches by 2-1 scores over Houston Baptist and Northwestern State, which went to overtime. The season began for Rice with a 4-0 win at home against Sam Houston and a 2-0 victory over SFA.
Delany Schultz, a preseason MAC Hermann Trophy watch list selection, leads the team with three assists and seven points. She, along with Caleigh Boeckx, Natalie Gorji and Vyviene Spalding, have netted a team-high two goals.
Bella Killgore has played all 367:42 minutes between the posts. The junior sports a 0.49 GAA with 16 saves and a .889 save percentage. She also comes forward to take the team's free kicks which have resulted in two assists this season and four goals last year, three of which ended up being match-winners.
All-Time Series
Rice leads the all-time series 5-2-2 and are undefeated in the last seven meetings. Last time the teams played was Sept. 8, 2013 in San Marcos and ended in a scoreless draw. Texas State won the first two matches between the programs on Sept. 7, 2001 (2-1) in Houston and Sept. 10, 2002 at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. The Bobcats are 1-3-1 all-time when facing the Owls in Houston.
