SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (19-27) is back home at Bobcat Ballpark to host fellow Sun Belt Conference member South Alabama (25-15) in a non-conference series this weekend. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and Saturday's is slated for 2:30 p.m. The finale on Sunday will begin at 11 a.m.

Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. All three games will on KTSW 89.9 FM with
Clint Shields providing the play-by-play on Friday and Bill Culhane on Saturday and Sunday. Live stats will also be available for all three contests.

The Bobcats battled but fell to No. 5 Texas 4-1 on Tuesday in Austin.
Trevis Sundgren started on the mound and went five innings while giving up a run on three hits and striking out three.
Cole Coffey tied the game in the fifth with a solo home run, his first away from San Marcos.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Justin Thompson comes in hitting a team-high .315 with 56 hits and 33 RBI. Coffey has plated 23 runs and paces the squad with a .584 slugging percentage. Since his return from injury,
John Wuthrich has recorded a hit in seven of the past eight games.

Scheduled to take the rubber on Friday is
Zachary Leigh. He has won four his last five starts and is tied for sixth in the conference with 64 strikeouts.
Zeke Wood will get the ball Saturday and
Tony Robie will be making his third consecutive Sunday start.

ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
South Alabama had won nine straight before dropping the final two games at Georgia Southern last weekend. The Jaguars lead the Sun Belt East Division with a 12-6 record and have remaining series against Appalachian State (May 20-22) and Coastal Carolina (14-16).

Ethan Wilson, the Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year, is the lone player hitting over .300 on the season with a .333 average. He also leads the team with 47 hits, 24 walks and two triples. His six home runs are tied for the most on the team with Caleb Balgaard and Michael Sandle.

Driving in a team-high 34 RBI is Sandle. He also paces USA with 34 runs scored and 12 stolen bases while batting .295 with 46 base knocks.

Miles Smith sports a team-low 1.85 ERA and will get the start on Friday. He is 4-0 with two saves and 47 strikeouts over 43.2 innings spanning 13 appearances including two starts. Matt Boswell is scheduled to start on the rubber Saturday and enters with a 2-2 record, 4.25 ERA and 58 strikeouts. Sunday's starter will be JoJo Booker. The right-hander comes in at 5-0 with 50 strikeouts and a 3.40 ERA.

SERIES VS. THE JAGUARS
The all-time series sees the Jaguars lead it 14-4. Texas State won the last meeting 8-2 that took place Mar. 17, 2019 in Mobile. The Bobcats are 2-7 all-time when hosting USA. Last times the teams met in San Marcos the Jaguars won the first two games of the series before TXST won the finale 5-2 on Apr. 22, 2018.
