Ronnie Briscoe advanced to the NCAA Division I Championships on June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. after leaping 7.71 meters (25' 3.5") in the men's long jump at the NCAA West Preliminaries on May 26 at College Station, Texas.
The 7.71 meters is the longest legal jump in Briscoe's career and came in the third and final round at the NCAA Preliminary. He opened the competition with a wind-aided mark of 7.21 meters (23' 8") and had another wind-aided jump of 7.67 meters (25' 2") in the second round.
Briscoe will compete in the men's long jump on June 9 at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. It will mark the 16th time that Hayward Field is the site of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Briscoe qualified for the NCAA Preliminaries with a wind-aided jump of 7.72 meters (25' 4") at the Bobcat Invitational on March 25-27. The wind on the jump measured +3.5 meters per second, exceeding an allowable tailwind of 2 meters per second.
His previous career-best legal jump was 7.60 meters (24' 11.25") at the 2019 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Pedro Osorio Lopez advanced to the men's 800 meters quarterfinals when he finished second in his first-round heat in 1:50.91. Osorio Lopez placed 22nd overall and sixth in his quarterfinal heat in 1:50.95.
Kwanele Mthembu finished 26th in the semifinals men's 10,000 meters with a time of 30:14.36.
Kobe Daniels,
Bervensky Pierre,
Pedro Osorio Lopez, and
Jaylen Allen combined for a time of 3:10.19 to place 21st in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
Pierre had a wind-aided time of 21.35 seconds to place 41st in the men's 200 meters and Allen had a time of 49.69 seconds in the 400 meters to finish 44th.
Brandon Busby had a throw of 60.51 meters (198' 6") and placed 27th in the men's hammer.
Kattiana Ealy-Pulido placed 27th in the women's 100-meter hurdles in 13.37 seconds and 42nd in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.12.
Ariana Ealy-Pulido's time of 13.52 seconds placed 36th in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished 45th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.57.
Katherine Stuckly also competed in the high jump at the NCAA West Preliminaries after earning Second-Team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
