WACO, Texas – The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams posted eight of this year's Top 10 marks in the Sun Belt Conference at the Michael Johnson Invitational April 16-17 at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.
Brandon Busby had the fourth-best effort in the Sun Belt this season with a throw of 62.83 meters (206' 2") in the men's hammer. It is the second-best throw in school history behind his effort at the UIW Invitational last week.
Busby also finished eighth in the men's premier discus throw with the Sun Belt's eighth-farthest throw (48.91 meters, 160' 5") and the leagues' sixth-best mark in the men's premier shot put with 16.21 meters (53' 2.50").
Ronnie Briscoe had the Sun Belt's fifth-longest leap in the long jump with a wind-aided 7.43 meters (24' 4.50") to finish in second place.
Isaac Sadzewicz had the fifth-highest clearance in the Sun Belt to place sixth in the men's pole vault with a career-best 4.96 meters (16' 3.25").
Alexandra Headley won the women's open shot put with a throw of 13.97 meters (45' 10"). James Noble had a third-place finish in the men's open shot put with a mark of 14.82 meters (48' 7.50"),
Pedro Osorio Lopez has the Sun Belt's second-fastest time after finishing in eighth place with a time of 1:51.86 in the 800 meters.
Justin Botello had the Sun Belt's sixth-fastest time in the men's 5,000-meter race with 14:49.81.
Breanna Clark's time in the women's 800-meters ranked sixth among Sun Belt leaders, and
Taahir Kelly's time of 48.55 seconds was the 10th fastest time in the league.
Texas State continues its outdoor season April 21-24 in Des Moines, Iowa, when the Bobcats compete in the Drake Relays. Texas State closes out the regular season hosting the Bobcat Classic April 30-May 1 before competing in the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships May 13-15.
