SAN ANTONIO- The Texas State track and field teams won six events, set a school record, and posted 12 of this season's best marks in the Sun Belt Conference at the UIW Invitational on April 9-10.
Brandon Busby led the Bobcats after winning the men's discus, setting a school record in the men's hammer, and placing fourth in the shot put.
Busby won the men's discus with a throw of 51.12 meters (167' 8"), which ranks fourth among Sun Belt Conference leaders. He eclipsed Texas State's school record and placed second in the men's hammer with the Sun Belt's third-best throw of 64.86 meters (212' 9"). Busby also placed fourth in the men's shot put with the Sun Belt's sixth-best effort of 16.07 meters (52' 8.75").
James Noles finished third in the discus with a throw of 48.72 meters (159' 10") and that distance ranks eighth among Sun Belt leaders. He also had a career-best effort in the hammer throw with 47.12 meters (154'7").
Kattiana Ealy-Pulido posted the best time in the Sun Belt Conference when she won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.14. She edged her sister, Ariana, who finished second with the Sun Belt's fourth-fastest time of 1:01.45.
Paige Kimble placed third in the race in 1:02.22 and has the sixth-fastest time in the league.
Jada Glispie ended the race in fifth place with a time of 1:04.42.
Ariana won the women's 100-meter hurdles in 14.09 seconds, the Sun Belt Conference's sixth-fastest time.
Kattiana Ealy-Pulido finished in third place with a career-best time of 14.45 seconds.
Justin Botello had a second-place finish in the men's 1500 meters with the Sun Belt's ninth-fastest time of 3:53.41.
Lee-Anne Blake won the women's 1500-meter race with the Sun Belt's eighth-best time of 4:38.24 and finished second in the women's 800-meter race with the Sun Belt's fifth-fastest time of 2:13.85.
Isaac Sadzewicz won the men's pole vault after equaling his eighth-best height in the Sun Belt with 4.85 meters (15' 11").
Mathilde Canet won the women's javelin with a career-best throw of 34.99 meters (114' 9").
Drue Jackson tied for third place in the men's long jump with the Sun Belt's 11th-best leap of 7.25 meters (23' 9.50"). He edged
Noah Chokri, who finished in fifth place with a mark of 7.23 meters (23' 8.75"), which ranks 12th in the Sun Belt Conference. Jackson also placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 13.63 meters (44' 8.75").
The Bobcats had two of the top four finishers in the women's shot put when
Ebony Wolridge placed second with a season-best put of 13.65 meters (44' 9.50"). Wolridge finished fourth in the women's discus with a career-best throw of 43.71 meters (143' 5").
Alexandra Headley posted season-best throws when she finished fourth in the shot put with 13.46 meters (44' 2") and fifth in the women's hammer with a throw of 45.16 meters (148' 2").
