Baseball Plays at Baylor Tuesday Afternoon

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team (8-4) concludes its four-game road swing with a 3 p.m. game at Baylor (8-3) on Tuesday in Baylor Ballpark.
 
The game will streamed on Big XII Now/ESPN+ with Pat Combs and Lincoln Rose on the call. Brant Freeman will call the game on KTSW 89.9 FM and live stats will be available for the contest.

SERIES VS. BEARS
Baylor leads the all-time series 51-24 over Texas State. The Bears have won the last two meetings and four of the last five. Last win for the Bobcats was a 6-1 game on Apr. 2, 2018 in Waco. When playing Baylor on the road, TXST is 17-33 all-time.
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Texas State is coming off a series victory at Houston that was capped off by a 12-4 victory on Sunday that saw the pitching staff hold the Cougars to four hits. Dalton Shuffield drove in five runs in the series opener. Wesley Faison led the Bobcats with six RBI and hit two home runs, one each in the last two games.
 
Set to make his first career start on the rubber is Tony Robie. The freshman right-hander comes in 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA and two strikeouts over four innings.
 
ABOUT BAYLOR
Baylor comes in on a four-game winning streak that began with a 2-0 win last week against UT Rio Grande Valley. The Bears followed by defeating Arkansas (3-2), LSU (6-4) and Missouri (4-2) to win the Shriners College Classic held at Minute Maid Park.
 
Jared McKenzie leads Baylor with a .409 batting average, 18 hits and three stolen bases. He has scored eight times, driven in four runs and hit three doubles. First baseman Kyle Nevin comes in hitting .381 with a triple and one RBI.
 
Nick Lofton, a preseason All-American, comes in batting .341 with four doubles, one triple, two home runs and 11 RBI. Ricky Martinez (.300) has also hit four doubles and plated 11 runs. Both Mack Mueller (.297, 7 RBI) and Chase Wehsener (.162, 4 RBI) have hit a team-high three home runs.
 
Hambleton Oliver is scheduled to get the start on the rubber for the Bears. It will be the freshman right-hander's second start of the season. He enters with a 1-0 record, 4.15 ERA and six strikeouts over 4.1 innings spanning three contests.
 
Luke Boyd has appeared in a team-high seven games and recorded five saves. He is 1-0 with 13 strikeouts in eight innings. Both Logan Freeman (1-0, 6 G) and Tyler Thomas (0-0, 5 G) have yet to allow a run this season.
