Soccer Inks Five for 2021 Class

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head soccer coach Kat Conner announced the signing of five high school seniors for the 2021 season on Wednesday.

Joining the Bobcats next Fall will be Katelyn Chrisman, Anna Dunch, Zoe Junior, Mackenzie Myers and Ella Rodgers.

"The 2021 signing class is talented," said Conner. "I anticipate that they will make a positive impact."

Katelyn Chrisman | Belton, Texas | Belton HS | Austin Texans
Chrisman is a 5-foot, 5-inch goalkeeper from Belton, Texas. She was named to the TASCO 6A All-State First Team this past spring where she helped the Tigers to a 16-2-3 record. The future Bobcat was also named to the Waco Tribune-Herald All-Super CenTex First Team and All-District 12-6A Second Team last season.

In 2019, Chrisman earned academic all-district honors. Over the last two seasons between the posts, she has recorded 31 shutouts in helping Belton win the district championship each year.

Chrisman played club soccer for the Austin Texans under the direction of Jessica Kim and Sting Austin ECNL while being coached by Jorge Cruz.

Conner on Chrisman: "Katelyn is an explosive goalkeeper who reads the game very well."

Anna Dunch | Round Rock, Texas | Round Rock HS | Lonestar SC
Dunch is a defender from Round Rock, Texas. She spent her first three years of high school playing for the Developmental Academy league and will join Round Rock High School's soccer team this spring. The future Bobcat also competed on the Dragons cross country and track teams.

Playing club soccer for Lonestar SC, Dunch helped the team qualify for the national cup finals last spring.

Dunch chose Texas State because of the friendly environment and amazing coach staff while holding offers from Boise State, Georgia State and Kansas State.

Conner on Dunch: "Anna is a strong, confident outside back who looks to get into the attack."

Zoe Junior | Frisco, Texas | Liberty HS | FC Dallas
Junior will come to Texas State from Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas. As a sophomore, she was named the All-District 9-5A Utilty Player of the Year. Junior is also a member of the Lady Redhawks basketball team and helped lead them to the 2020 UIL 5A State Championship.

She plays club soccer for FC Dallas.

Lorraine Quinn on Junior: "We are excited to welcome Zoe to the Bobcat soccer family. She will help round out our 2021 class with a talented attacking addition. Zoe is quick on the ball and has the speed to be an attacking threat."

Mackenzie Myers | Plano, Texas | John Paul II HS | Dallas Sting SC
Myers will arrive in San Marcos from Plano, Texas. She is a four-year starter for John Paul II High School and has been captain of the team for three years. Last season saw her named to the TAPPS Division I All-State Second Team. Myers is also a two-time All-District 2 Division I First Team selection and was named the district's Newcomer of the Year in 2017.

In 2018, she helped lead the Cardinals to the TAPPS Division I semifinals while scoring 12 goals and being credited with 11 assists. The past two seasons has seen her receive the team's MVP award.

The past three years Myers has played club soccer with Sting SC. She played the five previous years before that in the ECNL League and helping her team to the 2017 National Championship.

Myers chose Texas State because of the great coaches, beautiful campus and playing for a team with a lot of grit.

Conner on Myers: "Mackenzie is an intuitive center back who understands how to absorb the opponent's attacks and organizes the back line."

Ella Rodgers | North Richland Hills, Texas | L.D. Bell HS | Dallas Texans
Rodgers is 5-foot, 3-inch outside back and outside midfielder. She will graduate from L.D. Bell High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society. Rodgers is rated in the Top Drawer Soccer IMG Top 150 players rankings for the 2021 Class.

The soon to be Bobcat played for Solar SC during the 2019-20 club season and scored two goals. Previously, Rodgers played for Dallas Texans and tallied two goals during the 2018-19 campaign.

She chose Texas State over interest from Arkansas, Minnesota and Texas.

Conner on Rodgers: "Ella is a versatile player with a good understanding of the game and a leadership mentality who can play center back or move into the midfield."
