STILLWATER, Okla. — The Texas State men's and women's cross-country teams continued their 2020 schedule at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree with a 12
th-place and a 13th-place finish, respectively, Saturday morning on the OSU Cross Country Course.
Competing against a field that included seven Big XII Conference teams in both races, the men's team scored 289 points to finished 33 points ahead of Oklahoma and 12 points behind Oklahoma Christian.
Oklahoma State (23) edged Iowa State (32) by nine points to win its Jamboree after having five of its runners finish among the top seven competitors.
Justin Botello led Texas State with a time of 25:16.5 on the eight-kilometer course. Botello finished ahead of George Letner of Kansas for 24th place overall.
Junior
Nicholas Mosqueda finished the course in 26:21.4, while
Pedro Osorio Lopez posted a 26:26.3 time. The freshmen duo of
A.J. Tyler and
Dylan Pitts ended the race in 27:01.4 and 27:16.9, respectively.
Iowa State won the women's team title with 29 points after placing five runners among the top nine finishers.
Esmeralda Fuentes led the Bobcats one week after making her Texas State cross country debut when she finished the six-kilometer course in 23:18.3 to finish in 41st place overall.
Senior
Sydney Cole finished the course in 23:46.0, while
Aubrey Schmidt had 24:13.6 time. First-year runners
Daphne Duran and
Daniela Wisniewski completed the race in 25:04.0 and 25:49.4, respectively.
Texas State returns to action on October 17 when the Bobcats travel to Abilene, Texas, to participate in the Naimadu Classic before traveling to Mobile, Ala., on October 31 for the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
