SAN MARCOS, Texas – The season progresses as the Texas State cross country teams set out to compete at the 31st annual Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas at Argi Park in Fayetteville, Ark. The men will compete in the 8k race at 9 a.m. and the women's 6k will start at 10:40 a.m.
Both teams are coming off hot starts at the UIW Opener Sept. 30 where the men won the 6k event with 38 points and the women placed fourth in the 4k with 94 points.
At the UIW Opener, a pair of transfers from Tarleton State in junior
Justin Botello and senior
Johen Deleon led the Bobcat men with a third and fourth-place finish, respectively. Botello crossed the finish line at 18.43.5 and Deleon stopped the clock at 18.43.6. Junior
Tina Sierra paced the Bobcat women by finishing sixth with a time of 15:39.6. Classmate
Sydney Cole was next for the Maroon and Gold as her time of 15:53.5 placed 15th.
