Bobcats Travel To Wilson/DemArini Classic
• Texas State plays in its final multi-team nonconference event of the season at the Wilson/DeMarini Classic at Auburn on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4. The Bobcats are 9-3 through three multi-team events this season, posting a 4-1 record in their own CenturyLink Classic, a 2-1 record at the DeMarini Desert classic and a 3-1 mark at the UTSA Classic.
  Inside the Series
• Texas State and College of Charleston will play at 12:30 p.m. on Fri., March 3. Texas State leads the all-time series against the Cougars by a 2-0 margin, winning both meetings (15-1 and 9-6) on March 7, 2006 in San Marcos.
• Texas State and Liberty are scheduled to play twice during the event (March 3 - 3 p.m. and March 4 - 1 p.m.). Texas State is 2-0 all-time against the Flames, claiming 8-0 and 2-0 wins on March 13, 2012 at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
• The Bobcats will play host Auburn on March 4 at 6 p.m. The Tigers, which enter the event ranked second in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and third in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, defeated Texas State 6-2 in the programs' only meeting on Feb. 26, 2015 in Auburn.

RUPP PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
• RHP Randi Rupp has started the 2017 season picking up where she left off in 2016. The junior, who finished last year with 335 strikeouts, started 2017 with an 11-strikeout performance against Abilene Christian.  She finished opening weekend with 24 strikeouts, then added an additional 16 at the DeMarini Desert Classic.
• Rupp threw 10 strikeouts in a 1-0 shutout of New Mexico to open the UTSA Classic on Feb. 24. She followed with a career-high tying 14 strikeouts in an 8-1 over the host-Roadrunners on Feb. 25.
• Through 49.1 inning of work, Rupp owns a 0.99 ERA and has struck out 70 of the 198 batters she has faced. Opponents are hitting .177 off the right hander with only eight extra base knocks.

LONG BALL
• Texas State hitters Jaelyn Young, Ariel Ortiz and Taylor Webb have combined for 14 home runs in the season's first 13 games (TXST hit 32 all of last year (62 games)). Young leads the Bobcats charge with six homers, while Webb and Ortiz each have four.
• The Bobcats 14 home runs are tied with Coastal Carolina for second in the Sun Belt behind Louisiana's 16.
• Individually, Young's six round-trippers are tied for most in the league, tied for seventh in the nation and are double the amount she hit a season ago.

GLOVE WORK
• Texas State ranks third in the NCAA with a .989 field percentage. The Bobcats have committed just four errors in 263 attempts this season. TXST's fielding acumen has led to only one unearned run being scored through 87.2 innings of play.

FRESH FACES UP THE MIDDLE
• True freshmen Bailee Carter and Christiana McDowell have started each of the Bobcats' 13 games this season at second base and center field, respectively. Carter, a native of Azle, Texas, is hitting .265 with five runs scored and three RBI. McDowell, who hails from Round Rock, Texas, is hitting .118 with four runs and one RBI.  Both are fielding a perfect 1.000 on the season.

LONG BALL, PITCHING AND DEFENSE LEAD BOBCATS PAST TEXAS
• Texas State defeated Texas, which is receiving votes in both major polls, 2-1 on Tuesday (March 1) using a combination of a two-run Ariel Ortiz home run, a one-run performance in the circle by Randi Rupp and error-free defense.
• Ortiz sent her fourth homer of the year out to left in the top of the first to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. It would be enough as Rupp surrendered only one run (via an illegal pitch in the first inning), while striking out six and holding UT to 1-for-13 with runners on base. The Bobcats' played error-free defense for the ninth time this season. Kimberlin Naivar made the defensive play of the game with a reaching catch in left to end the sixth with a runner on second.
