SAN MARCOS, Texas - Two more high school seniors inked their National Letters of Intent to play for
Kat Conner and the Texas State women's soccer team this fall. The signings of Valeria Macias and Kalen Sanderfer increases the signing class to seven players.
Macias and Sanderfer join Kathryn Budde, Sarah Gavin, Jordan Kondikoff, Heather Martin and Genesis Turman as new Bobcats for the 2016 season.
Valeria MaciasMacias is a 5-foot, 5-inch forward out of Laredo, Texas, where she has lettered three years at United High School. So far in her high school career, she has found the back of the net 62 times with 28 tallies in her sophomore campaign and 24 in 2015.
Her performances the past two seasons earned her District MVP honors. She was named first team all-district her freshman year after a 10-goal season.
Macias is a member of the National Honor Society and competes on the hardwood for the girls' basketball team. She decided to play for the Bobcats while retaining offers from Texas Tech and Texas A&M International.
"We found Valeria through our soccer camp. She is a versatile player that is able to compete on the field at forward, outside midfield and center midfield," Conner said. She is very skillful and can score or make unbelievable penetrating passes to set up teammates to score."
"Valeria has passion for the game, loves to play and you can see it when she touches the ball. She will be a player that the fans will like to see play as she is very skillful and crafty with the ball."
Kalen Sanderfer
Sanderfer, a 5-foot, 7-inch forward, joins the Bobcats out of Allen High School in Allen, Texas. She is teammates with fellow Bobcat signee Genesis Turman. As a sophomore, Sanderfer was a second team all-district selection.
Off the field she is a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Peer Assistant Leadership and the National Honor Society.
At the club level, Sanderfer plays for Arsenal based out of Dallas. She choose to play for the Bobcats over Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's.
"Kalen is a goal scorer that has a knack to be in and around the goal ready to score off of crosses, penetrating passes or goalkeeping mistakes," Conner said. "As a coach, I love Kalen's attitude. She is ready to come in and build upon her talent to raise her game to the next level."
