SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sunday is Senior Day for the Texas State women's soccer team with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex against UL Monroe. The game's result will also determine whether the Bobcats will qualify for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Seniors
Taylor Allen,
Ali Jones,
Clarissa Leon,
Maddie Nichols and
Lauren Prater will all be honored after the match.
Texas State enters the game with a 6-9-2 record on the season with a 3-5-1 mark in conference play while the Warhawks are 7-8-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the SBC.
For the Bobcats to qualify for the conference tournament, they must win or tie and need Appalachian State to fall to South Alabama.
Last Time Out
Texas State dropped to 2-1 games on the road against South Alabama and Troy. Scoring for the Bobcats were
Lauren Prater and
Genesis Turman.
Prater tallied her goal against the Jaguars late in the game. She received a long through ball from
Jamie Brown and slotted her shot low into the right corner past a charging goalkeeper. Turman netted her first collegiate goal against the Trojans early in the 17th minute when she headed in a corner kick by
Kira Zapalac.
Freshman
Heather Martin played all 180 minutes in goal for the Bobcats. She made 12 saves with seven stops coming against USA. She enters the regular season finale with 61 saves, the ninth most on the program's career list and one away from cracking the single-season top 10 list.
Scouting UL Monroe
UL Monroe concluded its home schedule on Friday with a 3-2 victory over Troy. The victory snapped a five-match winless streak. When playing on the road, the Warhawks are 3-4-2 with their lone road conference win being a 1-0 decision at Arkansas State.
Pacing the team with three goals is Che'Lana Caesar and Emely Portillo-Segovia. Netting two goals apiece has been Kylie Kukowski and Mia Walters. Both Danielle Sabathe and Alexandria Skidmore have been credited with a team-high three assists.
Brooke Scroggins has played all but 27 seconds in goal for ULM this season. She has made 109 saves with an 84.5 save percentage and sports a 1.15 goals against average.
Texas State leads the all-time series 11-6 with a 5-3 record at home. Since joining the Sun Belt Conference, the Bobcats are just 1-2 against the Warhawks with the lone victory coming last season by the score of 1-0 on the road. The last time Texas State won at home was on Oct. 9, 2005 by the score of 2-1 in overtime.
