SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the fourth consecutive year, the Texas State football team held a team draft with a group of seven players selecting the rosters for this Saturday's Annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game that kicks off at 1 p.m., at Bobcat Stadium.Â
Senior offensive tackle Adrian Bellard, senior running back/tight end Tim Gay and junior safety Damani Alexcee selected the players for the Gold team, while senior defensive end Rusmin Nikocevic, senior cornerback David Mims, senior wide receiver Jafus Gaines and senior tight end Lawrence White chose players for the Maroon squad.
The day began with a pair of coin tosses to decide the team colors and which team would have the first pick in the draft. Bellard, Gay and Alexcee winning the first coin toss and opted to be the Gold team on Saturday.Â
The Maroon team won the second coin toss and Nikocevic, Mims, Gaines and White chose senior running back Chris Nutall as their first pick in the draft.
After a few minutes of deliberation, the Gold team opted to take junior quarterback Tyler Jones with their first pick.
Each of the remaining players were selected one-by-one for 35 rounds until after all of the players were selected. Following the players, Athletics administrators and support staff were selected for each team.
After the draft ended, the two teams had until Thursday at noon to make any trades. Then, the rosters were released on Thursday afternoon. Below is a list of players for each team.
