Logan, Utah- The Texas State women's tennis team dropped a 6-0 decision against No. 51-ranked Denver at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club on Friday afternoon.
The day began with the Bobcats dropping two doubles matches as the Pioneers captured the team point. In the No. 1 match,
Jessica Kahts and
Monica Pieratt suffered an 8-6 loss against Sophia Bergner and Steffi Rath.
In the No. 3 match, Berenice Van den Bergh and
Katy Collins suffered an 8-2 setback against Kathryn Hughes and Carolina Schnell.
The No. 2 match was called with Texas State's
Melissa Hadad and
Mariana Perez holding a 6-5 match before Denver won its second match to capture the team point. As a result, the match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Kahts suffered her first loss against WAC No. 1 players this season after dropping a 6-2, 6-0 decision against Bergner.
In the No. 2 match, Hadad lost a 6-0, 6-3 decision against Schnell and Pieratt suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss against Isberg.
In the No. 4 match,
Rachel Baldree was edged by van den Eerenbeemt by the score of 6-2, 6-4, and Perez suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss against Hughes in the No. 5 match.
In the No. 6 contest, Van den Bergh's match against Rath was unfinished with Van den Bergh leading the second set,
The loss was Texas State's third straight setback and the Bobcats fell to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in WAC play this season. Texas State will play at Utah State on Saturday beginning at noon (Mountain).
