Women’s Tennis Team Posts 6-1 Victory Over Lewis & Clark State College

Lewiston, Idaho – The Texas State women's tennis team won a pair of doubles matches and five singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory at Lewis & Clark State College inside the LCSC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Playing without one of the their top three singles players, the Bobcats began the day capturing the team point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Texas State posted its first win of the day when Bérénice Van den Bergh and Rachel Baldree teamed to defeat Deanri Human and Florencia Martina by the score of 8-2 on the No. 3 court.
 
With Monica Pieratt sitting out the match, Katy Collins teamed with Jessica Kahts to edge Rye Hewitt and Bryn Oliveira by the score of 8-6 in the No. 2 match.
 
In the No. 1 match, Melissa Hadad and Mariana Perez fell 8-6 against Livia Blasque and Dorothy Chong.
 
In singles action, Kahts defeated Chong by the score of 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 match, while Hadad fell 6-4, 6-3 in her No. 2 match against Basque. With Pieratt sitting out the match, the remaining Bobcat players moved up a spot and won their matches.
 
Baldree also scored a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Oliveria in the No. 3 match, while Perez defeated Hewett by the score of 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 4 match. On the No. 5 court, Van den Bergh edged Human 6-3, 6-2, while Collins won her No. 6 match over Martina by the score of 6-4, 6-2.
 
Texas State improves to 8-8 overall this season with the victory. The Bobcats enters Sunday's match at Idaho with a 4-4 record against WAC opponents. Lewis & Clark State College, which entered Saturday's match ranked 10th in the latest NAIA poll, fell to 7-7 following Saturday's loss.
 
Idaho was 10-10 and 3-3 against WAC opponents heading into Saturday's match against San Jose State  in a match that was moved to Lewiston due to weather conditions in Moscow, Idaho.
 
Following its match at Idaho, Texas State will return to the Bobcat Tennis Complex on Friday, April 19 for a match against McMurry that begins at 2:00 p.m. The match will be the final home appearance for two senior players, Melissa Hadad and Mariana Perez, along with senior student coach Mariana Charalambous.
