SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State women's tennis is set to compete in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship, as the league office announced the official bracket Monday evening.
The championship will take place April 22–26 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, marking the third consecutive year the event has been held at the venue. All matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Texas State enters the championship as the No. 5 seed and will begin play in the second round on Thursday, April 23. The Bobcats will face the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 12 Georgia Southern and No. 13 Georgia State at 9:00 a.m. CT.
With a win, Texas State would advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, April 24, where it would face No. 4 seed Arkansas State.
The Bobcats finished the regular season with a 13-7 overall record and went a perfect 7-0 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Texas State faced five Sun Belt opponents during the regular season and posted a 3-2 record in those matches.
The Bobcats earned wins over Georgia State (4-1), Louisiana (4-2) and No. 2 seed South Alabama (4-3), while their losses came against No. 3 seed Troy and No. 4 seed Arkansas State.
Texas State enters the conference championship led by seniors Ireland Simme and Emily Niers.
Simme has been a standout all season, compiling a 14-2 record across courts one through four and riding a 12-match winning streak.
She has also earned two Sun Belt weekly honors, being named Player of the Week in Week 3 and Doubles Team of the Week alongside freshman Olivia Collins in Week 10.
The Bobcats will await the result of the first-round matchup between No. 12 Georgia Southern and No. 13 Georgia State, scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m. ET.
