San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State soccer team suffered its first setback of WAC play, Sunday afternoon at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. With the loss, Texas State falls to 1-1 in WAC play and ends its five-game homestand.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes to go in the first half. Redhawk forward Julia Moravec went down the right sideline and unleashed a shot from the top of the 18 yard box. The shot went just below the bottom of the crossbar and Bobcat goalkeeper Natalie Gardini could only get a finger on it as it went into the net.

It nearly was 2-0 later in the half when a Redhawk forward collided with Gardini. The ball started rolling towards the net, but Emma Staley was able to tap it away before it crossed the line.

The Redhawks did eventually get back on the board as Stephanie Verdoia tapped a ball over to Monique Escalera. Escalera shot it at the goal and Gardini had the ball go in and out of her hands, for the 2-0 advantage.

The Bobcats had a great opportunity in the first 10 minutes of the game. Seattle's goalkeeper came out of the goal and Tori Hale tried to put it over her head, but the ball went just a bit high over the goal for a goal kick.

Taylor Person nearly had the equalizer five minutes into the second half. A ball rolled to her feet at the top of the 18-yard box and she shot it, but the Redhawk goalkeeper was up to the task.

Alissa Scott had a good look at goal with 15 minutes to go from the top of the box, but the shot sailed over the crossbar.

Texas State will next have its first WAC roadtrip, when it heads to San Jose State on Friday, Oct. 5. It will be the first of two straight road games for the Bobcats who play Utah State on Sunday, Oct. 7.
