San Marcos, Texas – With just three more Southland Conference regular season series left on the schedule, Texas State has nine games remaining to improve its position in the conference standings before the Southland Conference Tournament. The Bobcats will play the first of those three series this weekend when Lamar comes to San Marcos for a three-game set at Bobcat Ballpark. Game one of the series will be Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the two teams will also play Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Bobcats (25-17) enter the weekend in fourth place in the SLC with a 13-11 record in conference. The team is behind first-place Sam Houston State (19-5 SLC), second-place Southeastern Louisiana (15-9 SLC) and third-place UT Arlington (14-10 SLC).
Most recently, Texas State won two of three games last weekend on the road against Nicholls, and the team is 5-1 in its last six contests.
Lamar (19-26) is currently tied for ninth place in the Southland Conference with a 10-14 record during SLC games. The Cardinals are one game out of the eighth and final spot in the SLC Tournament.
Texas State is looking to improve its streak of 18 consecutive home series victories during Southland Conference action, the fourth longest streak of its kind in the nation.
Friday night's game will be sponsored by the student organization B.L.O.V (Bobcats Leaving Out Violence), an organization who mission is to be the voice against domestic violence on campus at Texas State.
