San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams will travel up I-35 this week to take part in the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, March 28-31. A total of 32 Bobcats will make the trip to represent Texas State.

“I hope they can keep their composure and can handle the pressure of competing on the big stage,” said head coach Dana Boone. “We just want to continue to improve.”

Last week at the Victor Lopez Classic, two school records were broken as sophomore 1,500-meter runner Michelle Jones and the 4x100-meter relay of Timothy Young, James Johnson, Reggie Reed and Brandon Thomas inked their names into the Texas State record books.

The team will look to improve their time of 40.23 at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the prelims as they go up against 37 other teams from across the nation.

“The goal is every time we step on the track to get a little bit better,” Boone said. “We didn't have the best stick work last week so hopefully this week we can have some clean baton passes.”

Junior vaulter Logan Cunningham will open up his outdoor season at 3 p.m. Saturday after being named a First-Team All-American at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9.

“This is a great opportunity for Logan to open his spring season against some good competition,” Boone said.

In action this week will be 400-meter hurdlers Chante'sean White and Katie Miller. White's top time of 59.86 puts her in the top-10 in the nation while Miller's time of 1:01.37 ranks her in the top-25. In the pole vault, senior Elena Horn returns to the field after taking last week off. Horn opened the outdoor season tying her personal-best of 4.05 meters (13-03.50) to place her in the top-10 nationally.

Junior Danessa Lyssy will compete in the heptathlon on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. to begin the meet for the Bobcats. Lyssy will perform in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash before finishing the remaining events Thursday afternoon.

Fans can access live results and may also watch the competition on the Longhorn Network. Complete results will be posted at www.txstatebobcats.com at the conclusion of each day.
