San Marcos, Texas – The much-awaited start to the 2012 Texas State baseball season has nearly arrived as the Bobcats begin their season on Friday, the first day of the CenturyLink Bobcat Invitational hosted in San Marcos at Bobcat Ballpark.
Texas State, ranked No. 35 in the College Baseball Preseason Poll, will take on Santa Clara at 2 p.m. on Friday in the first game of the season for both teams. Wichita State, ranked No. 37 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll, will play Louisiana-Lafayette in the second game of the day at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Day two of the CenturyLink Bobcat Invitational pits two ranked teams against one another as the Bobcats face off against Wichita State at 2 p.m. Texas State will then wrap up its opening weekend on Sunday with a 3 p.m. game against Louisiana-Lafayette.
Head coach Ty Harrington will begin his 13th season at the helm for Texas State and enters the season as the winningest coach in Bobcat baseball history with a 416-297 record.
