Soccer Has Season End In WAC Semifinals 2-0 To Denver

Box Score

Logan, Utah –
Two quick goals proved to be the downfall for the Texas State soccer team Friday afternoon against Denver in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament. The Bobcats end the year with a record of 8-12-1.

Denver scored both their goals early in each half. Kristen Bast, who scored the game winner against the Bobcats in the first meeting, dribbled around drawn out goalkeeper Natalie Gardini and shot it into the empty net for the 1-0 lead four minutes into the game.

The second goal came right after the end of halftime, 39 seconds into the second half. Pioneer forward Kalie Vaughn put the ball in on a scramble in front of the goal as a result of a corner kick.

Serena Hines had the best opportunity of the day for the Bobcats, collecting a loose ball eight yards in front of the goal, but the ensuing shot sailed just high.

This season marked the fifth straight season the Bobcats have reached the semifinals of their conference tournament. Texas State will say goodbye to six seniors, Serena Hines, Emma Staley, Taylor Kelley, Taylor Person, Andrea Mauk and Alissa Scott. The seniors have won two championships in their career and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year.
