Logan, Utah –
In a tightly contested game, controlled mainly by the Bobcats in the last 50 minutes, the Texas State soccer team was able to defeat Idaho 2-1, Thursday afternoon at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field in Logan, Utah. Lynsey Curry scored the game-winner with 3:17 remaining in the first overtime period.

Curry's goal happened as a result of Emma Staley putting a ball over the top and landing in the attacking third. Curry tracked it down, took a touch and shot from 16 yards out past the drawn out Idaho goalkeeper into the right corner. It was the second straight overtime winner for Texas State who defeated UTSA, 2-1 last Sunday.

The momentum turned squarely in Texas State's favor just before halftime. Down 1-0, Kelsie Townsend scored Texas State's second consecutive goal, dating back to the overtime game winner on Sunday at UTSA, 46 seconds before halftime. Brenna Smith got the ball at midfield and sent a long pass up the right side to Townsend who had a breakaway, in which she beat the goalkeeper, to tie the game at 1-1.

From that point on the Bobcats were in control nearly the whole second half and into overtime. Texas State outshot Idaho 17-6 in the last two periods, including a 15-5 advantage in the second half.

Tori Hale had numerous attempts at goal, finishing the day with five shots, two of which were on goal. One of her best plays of the day actually came on a near-assist. She was able to dribble around the Idaho goalkeeper who came out of the net, and passed it to Curry who tried to head it in, but the ball bounced over the goal on Curry's attempt. Lynsey finished the day with seven shots, tying her season-high set Sunday at UTSA.

Idaho struck first as Katie Baran took a loose ball 20 yards out and shot it in the upper right hand corner in the first three minutes of the game. The Vandals controlled possession for much of the first half but were unable to generate many more scoring chances.

Next up for the Bobcats in the WAC Tournament will be the No. 2 seed Denver at 12:00 p.m., MT, in the first WAC semifinal game. Texas State had a hard fought game in a 1-0 loss to the Pioneers earlier this season.
