San Marcos, Texas – Coming off a great two-game performance by the Texas State soccer defense, senior Alissa Scott was named Western Athletic Conference defender of the week, Monday. She was one of three Bobcat defenders to play all 180 minutes over the weekend.
As a group the Bobcats allowed just one goal in 180 minutes against New Mexico State and Denver. Texas State earned its fourth shutout of the year on Friday night against New Mexico State, 3-0 and was able to limit the No. 23 Denver Pioneers to just one goal on the road.
The effort by the Bobcat defense was just the second time all season Denver had scored one or fewer goals at home. The Pioneers averaged over 2.00 goals a game entering Sunday's contest.
Texas State will play its regular season finale on the road, next Sunday at 1:00 p.m., against UTSA.
