San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State (7-8, 0-2 SLC)) men's basketball team will host McNeese State (6-8, 2-0 SLC) this Saturday. Tip-off at Strahan Coliseum is slated for 4 p.m. Saturday is also Retired Staff and Faculty Appreciation Day. All retirees receive free admission into Saturday's game.

Series

McNeese State leads the all-time series, 31-17. The Cowboys have won the last two meetings, including a 97-92 victory in Lake Charles last year.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State is in search of a win at home this Saturday with hopes of snapping its three-game losing streak. The Bobcats most recent loss came at Northwestern State last Saturday, as they fell 83-68 on the road.

Texas State leads the SLC in scoring (80.6 ppg) and field goal percentage (.447), and is second in three-point percentage (.364).

After two games down in SLC play, the Bobcats are tied for fifth place in the West Division with a 7-8 overall record and a league record of 0-2.

The Bobcats are led in scoring by senior Brooks Ybarra with 11.5 ppg and 3.4 rpg. Junior forward Matt Staff is second with 11.1 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Senior Eddie Rios rounds out the top three with 10.3 ppg and 2.8 apg.

Scouting McNeese State

McNeese State enters Saturday's contest with a 6-8 overall record. It is 2-7 in on the road this season. The Cowboys were on a four-game losing streak before capturing wins over A&M-Corpus Christi and Lamar. The win over Lamar helped the Cowboys improve to 2-0 in league play as it is now tied for first place in the SLC East Division.

The Cowboys lead the conference in three-point percentage defense (.285), but rank eighth in the league in scoring offense at 63.4 points per game. Richard is the team's leading scorer, averaging 17.1 points per contest, which ranks first in the Southland. He also averages the most minutes played in the league at 34.7 minutes per game. Teammate Dontae Cannon is second in the category with 34.1 mpg.

Texas State will travel to Sam Houston State on Jan. 18 for a contest against the Bearkats. The Bobcats will then host I-35 rival UTSA on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m.
