San Marcos, Texas –
For the second straight home game, the Texas State women's soccer team won a thriller in overtime, beating La. Tech, 1-0, Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos. Kendell Webber had the game winner just over three minutes into extra time.

Before Webber's goal, Kelsey Bernard had a free kick from outside the 18 yard box. She sent it in near the goal and it looked like the Lady Techster goalkeeper was going to pick it up, but the ball was loose and Webber tapped it over the line. There was confusion at first if the goalkeeper had stopped in time, because she picked the ball up as if to punt it. However the referees got together and determined the whole ball did indeed cross the line for the Bobcat victory.

The goal came after a second half that was for the most part dominated by Texas State, which came out more aggressive following halftime, equaling its first half shot output in the first minute and a half, with two attempts.

In the 58th minute, Texas State turned up the pressure further, as Emma Staley sent a ball into the box intended for Kendell Webber. Webber was just about to head it on goal, but it was just past her reach as the ball sailed wide. Just minutes after, Sydney Curry crossed the ball to Erica Michaud who was on the back post but it was too high.

In the 68th minute Curry had yet another chance, getting a ball on the left flank from Michaud and her shot appeared to beat the keeper, but the Lady Techster defense was able to stop the ball before it went over the goalline.

With two minutes to go in regulation, Curry had a free kick outside the box. She sent it in on the goal and it went off the heads of a few players around the goal before it went over the endline for another corner. Scott found a free ball off the corner and shot but it was stopped by the goalkeeper.

The first half was mostly a battle around the midfield area, with neither team controlling possession for a majority of the half. La. Tech's best opportunity looked to come on a loose ball off a free kick that was bouncing around in traffic around the Bobcats' goal, but the ball continued on past the endline after Alissa Scott deflected it.

Texas State's best chance in the first 45 minutes came when Curry dribbled up through the middle to free herself before launching a shot outside the 18-yard box. Unfortunately the ball did not have enough steam on it as it bounced into the goalkeeper's arms.
