Thibodeaux, La. –
The Texas State soccer team tied the school record for most wins in the regular season, winning its 13th, Sunday, with a 4-1 win over Nicholls at the Nicholls Soccer Complex in Thibodeaux.

Kendell Webber got the Bobcats on the board in the 22nd minute, after Felicia Leask dribbled down to the endline before dishing it back to Webber who was waiting in front of the goal for her sixth goal of the year.

Texas State had a late offensive flurry with 12 minutes to go in the game when Serena Hines kicked a ball out of the air on a Jourdan Brown cross for a 2-0 Bobcat lead.  Ali Myers scored her first career goal just 30 seconds later after a Bobcat collided with the Nicholls goalkeeper and Myers was able to kick home a loose ball into the empty net.

On the defensive end, Lauren Frazier made a highlight save in the 26th minute when Melissa Pestalozzi headed a ball out of the air towards the goal, but Frazier dove to her left to snatch it out of the air and keep the Colonels off the scoreboard.

In the 37th minute, Gabbi Cottee tried the same thing as Leask on the team's first goal, dribbling it to the endline then passing it over to Serena Hines in front of the goal. However Hines' shot was blocked by a Nicholls defender.

10 minutes into the second half the Bobcats had a great opportunity to make it 2-0 at the time, when Kelsey Bernard dribbled into the box and had a leading pass for Leask, but Leask was not able to catch up to the ball and the pass went over the endline for a goal kick.

A minute after Nicholls scored its only goal with nine minutes left, Hines scored her second goal of the day when Erica Michaud dribbled down the left side drawing out the Nicholls keeper, before dishing it off to Hines who banked it in off the post for Texas State's fourth goal of the year, giving the Bobcats the 4-1 lead.

The Bobcats will now head to the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m., after earning a first round bye. As the No. 2 seed, Texas State awaits the winner of the No. 3 and the No. 6 seed. The tournament will be played from Nov. 3-6 in Natchitoches, La.
