Men’s Basketball: UTSA Preview

San Marcos, Texas – Texas State (7-10, 2-1 SLC) men's basketball will travel to San Antonio to face UTSA in the I-35 Rivalry Series on Saturday, Jan. 22. Tip-off at the UTSA Convocation Center is slated for 7 p.m. The Bobcats have three-straight victories over the Roadrunners heading into Saturday's contest.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State (7-10, 2-1 SLC) is coming off a thrilling come from behind victory over Sam Houston State on Wednesday night. The Bobcats beat the Bearkats 95-91 to win its fourth straight victory at home. Ryan White came off the bench to score 22 points and 11 assists. The Bobcats are led by team captains Cameron Johnson and Tony Bishop; Texas State's top scorers and rebounders. Texas State has scored 80+ points in each of its last five games going 4-1. The Bobcats are shooting 46 percent from the field and averaging 80.5 points per game.

 

Scouting UTSA

UTSA (8-8, 2-2 SLC) opened conference play with a 62-59 loss to Sam Houston State, but recovered with a 55-47 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Roadrunners are coming off a 63-58 victory over Northwestern State on the road. Devin Gibson leads UTSA in scoring averaging 15.6 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Jeromie Hill is also producing for the Roadrunners with 13.4 points per game and 6.2 boards per outing. The Roadrunners are averaging 69.1 points per game and 34.8 rebounds per game.

 

Flashback

March 3, 2010 - Cameron Johnson returned to Texas State's starting lineup to score 29 points and grab nine rebounds to lead the Texas State men's basketball team to an 83-76 victory over UTSA at the UTSA Convocation Center. Ryan White scored a career-high of 18 points and Uriel Segura added 10 points to help the Bobcats win their third straight game against the Roadrunners.
