SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State women's soccer eyes its 2026 home opener from the Bobcat Soccer Complex in first-ever meeting with UTRGV on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
Fans can watch the broadcast on the Pac-12 YouTube channel and follow the action on Statbroadcast.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
- The Bobcats are coming off a hard-fought, physical match with I-35 rival UTSA that resulted in a 2-2 draw.
- Texas State wasted no time and found the back of the net in the third minute with the help of a Roadrunner own-goal, but was forced by sophomore Lilah Dupree who crossed it into the box and deflected off the leg of a contesting UTSA defender for the first goal by a team in the new Pac-12 Conference era. Redshirt senior Nina Norshie punched in her first-career NCAA goal in the 67th minute of the season opener.
- In home openers, the Bobcats boast an 18-9-0 record and are riding a five-consecutive home opener win streak. The program's last loss in the category dates back to 2020, when a double-overtime contest fell the way of Stephen F. Austin by a 1-2 final score.
SCOUTING THE VAQUEROS
- Opening its season hosting Texas Southern, UTRGV dropped the match by a 2-0 score to the Tigers at home. TSU scored once in each half, although the Vaqueros outshot the Tigers 9-8 and held the edge in SOG, 5-3. Sienna Gillespie led the way for the Vaquero offensive pressure, sending two shots, both of which on target.
- UTRGV is coming off a 2025 season posting a record of 6-10-2, while being 3-6-1 in Southland conference play.
- First year Vaquero head coach Nataki Stewart was named the program's new head coach in February 2026, being just the third head coach in the team's history. Stewart spent the last three seasons at St. Thomas (Houston) prior to beginning his time at UTRGV, where he developed 20 all-conference selections and led the program to its first 10-win season a year ago since 2018
