AUSTIN, Texas— Texas State track & field did not complete day two of the Texas Invitational due to inclement weather in the Austin area.
The Bobcats were limited to competition in the men's and women's hammer throw Friday morning, where they recorded a pair of top-two finishes in each event.
In the women's hammer,
Elisabet Runarsdottir claimed first place with a throw of 68.73 meters, while
Lara Roberts followed in second at 67.56 meters.
On the men's side,
Manfred Mannamaa took first place with a mark of 62.55 meters, and Albert Archundia placed second at 58.53 meters.
Despite weather interruptions, Texas State completed competition on day one, highlighted by multiple event victories and podium finishes.
Senior
Aiden Hayes won the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.12 meters (6-11.50), while
Drew Donley captured the men's 200 meters title in 20.57 seconds.
On the women's side,
Cassandra Rendon secured first place in the discus with a mark of 51.30 meters (168-3), and Alexia Macias added another victory in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase (10:43.49).
The Bobcats also recorded several runner-up finishes, including
Caden Ohara in the men's pole vault (5.15m), Daniel Strooh in the men's discus (57.24m),
Isaiah Kayembe in the men's long jump (7.10m) and
Mihajlo Katanic in the men's 400-meter hurdles (51.39).
Additional podium finishes included
Lesedi Khunou placing third in the women's discus (46.60m) and
Omar Guzman finishing third in the men's 5000 meters (14:53.03).
Texas State will take the next week off before returning to competition May 14–16 at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Mobile, Alabama.
