Bobcats Head to Texas Invitational to Wrap Regular Season

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State Bobcats track and field will close out its outdoor regular season this week, traveling to Austin to compete at the Texas Invitational.

The meet is set to begin Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with the men's discus and pole vault. Running events will start at 6:00 p.m. with the women's 200 meters. Competition resumes Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the women's hammer throw, while running events restart at 1:20 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.

The Texas Invitational will serve as one of the final opportunities for the Bobcats to fine-tune performances ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships in May.

Texas State enters the weekend following a strong showing at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight, where the Bobcats recorded multiple event titles and top-five finishes across both track and field events. The performance was highlighted by senior Aiden Hayes, who cleared a season-best 2.24m (7-4.25) to win the high jump and move into a tie for No. 2 nationally.

Field events have remained a consistent strength for Texas State throughout the outdoor season. Alongside Hayes, freshman Tshephang Dankuru and decathlete Easton Hammond have added depth in the jumps, while the throws group is led by Elisabet Runarsdottir, who ranks among the nation's top competitors in the hammer throw.

On the track, freshman Ja'Shaun Lloyd continues to emerge as one of the top performers in the country in the hurdles, while the Bobcats' distance and relay groups have shown steady progress as postseason competition approaches.

With postseason qualifying marks on the line, the Texas Invitational presents a critical tune-up for Texas State. The meet will provide the Bobcats a final opportunity to solidify positions on the NCAA West Outdoor Qualifying List and build momentum heading into championship season. Texas State currently has 25 athletes represented on the regional list, including 13 men and 12 women.

Following the weekend, the Bobcats will turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships, where Texas State will look to contend for team titles on both the men's and women's sides.
