AUSTIN, Texas— Texas State Bobcats track and field wrapped up Day One of the Texas Invitational Friday with multiple event titles and podium finishes across both track and field events.
Texas State was led by a pair of victories from
Aiden Hayes and
Drew Donley. Hayes claimed first place in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.12m (6-11.50), while Donley won the men's 200 meters in 20.57 seconds.
On the women's side,
Cassandra Rendon secured a first-place finish in the discus with a mark of 51.30m (168-3), and Alexia Macias added another victory in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, crossing in 10:43.49.
The Bobcats also recorded multiple runner-up finishes, highlighted by
Caden Ohara placing second in the men's pole vault at 5.15m (16-10.75). Daniel Strooh finished second in the men's discus with a throw of 57.24m (187-9),
Isaiah Kayembe took second in the men's long jump at 7.10m (23-3.50), and
Mihajlo Katanic placed second in the men's 400-meter hurdles in 51.39 seconds.
Additional podium finishes came from
Lesedi Khunou, who placed third in the women's discus with a mark of 46.60m (152-10), and
Omar Guzman, who took third in the men's 5000 meters in 14:53.03.
Texas State will conclude competition at the Texas Invitational on Friday, with events beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the women's hammer throw.
