Bobcats Claim Three Gold Medals on Day One of SBC Outdoors

MOBILE, Ala.— Texas State track & field delivered a dominant opening day performance at the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Jaguar Track & Field Complex, highlighted by three event titles and a pair of multi-event leaders.

Through the opening day of competition, the Texas State women lead the team standings with 41 points, while the Bobcat men sit second with 24 points. South Alabama leads the men's standings with 29 points, while Louisiana and South Alabama trail Texas State on the women's side with 32 and 31 points, respectively.

Texas State claimed conference titles in the women's hammer throw, men's hammer throw and women's javelin, while also sitting atop both the heptathlon and decathlon standings heading into the final day of competition.

In the women's hammer throw, Elisabet Runarsdottir captured the conference title with a facility and Sun Belt Championship record mark of 70.81 meters. Lara Roberts secured the silver medal with a throw of 68.37m, giving the Bobcats a 1-2 finish in the event.

On the men's side, Manfred Mannamaa earned gold in the hammer throw after recording a winning mark of 66.99m. 

Texas State added another conference title in the women's javelin as Hannah Kemele won the event with a personal-best throw of 49.77m. Charlize Goody followed with a runner-up finish after throwing 48.22m, while McKenah Sears placed sixth at 44.14m.

In the heptathlon, Sophie Daugard closed day one in first place with 3,213 points. Daugard won both the shot put and 200 meters, recording marks of 13.16m and 24.91 seconds, respectively. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.38 seconds and fourth in the high jump at 1.53m.

Bostyn Baskin ended the opening day in third place with 3,104 points. Baskin won the high jump with a clearance of 1.68m and added third-place finishes in both the shot put and 200 meters.

Easton Hammond leads the decathlon standings through five events with 4,075 points. Hammond highlighted his day with a victory in the high jump after clearing 2.12m. He also placed fourth in both the long jump and shot put while adding a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters.

David Richards sits fourth overall in the decathlon with 3,802 points after recording top-six finishes in all five events.

On the track, Alexia Macias and Haley Hall each advanced to the women's 1,500-meter final. Macias won her preliminary heat in 4:33.01, while Hall automatically qualified after placing eighth overall in 4:39.26.

Victoria Amiadamen and Siena Farrell both advanced to the women's 400-meter hurdles final after posting qualifying times of 1:00.09 and 1:01.10, respectively. Mihajlo Katanic also moved on to the men's 400-meter hurdles final after clocking 51.02 seconds.

Texas State qualified a pair of sprinters for the men's 200-meter final as Drew Donley ran 21.20 seconds and Ja'Shaun Lloyd followed closely behind in 21.21.

Paige Archer advanced to the women's 200-meter final after running 23.56 seconds in the preliminary round.

In the men's 10,000 meters, Omar Guzman finished fourth in 30:47.56, while Ivan Guzman placed fifth in 30:47.90 to score points for the Bobcats.


Competition at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships concludes Saturday with the remaining field events and track finals.
