NEW ORLEANS – After helping lead Texas State to its third straight series win, Ethan Farris was named as the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
 
The redshirt sophomore batted a team-high .429 (6-for-14) with seven RBI, three home runs and one double over the four games last week. He recorded a hit in each contest to extend his hitting streak to five games and has now posted a hit in 11 of his last 12 games.
 
Farris began the week going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a homer at fifth-ranked Texas. After recording a single in the series opener against Georgia Southern, he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs and a homer in the seirs clinching win with his final RBI coming on a walk-off sacrifice fly for the run-rule victory.
 
In the series finale, Farris was 2-for-4 at the plate. He drove in two runs and scored twice. Both of his hits went for extra bases with a double and home run.
 
The Cypress, Texas native is the fourth Bobcat to earn one of the weekly honors this season as he joins Kyle Froehlich, Rashawn Galloway and Jesus Tovar. The four weekly awards are the most for Texas State in a season since 2023.
 
Next up for the Bobcats is a meeting tonight against 18th-ranked Texas A&M at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark.
