Texas State Records Multiple Event Titles at Bobcat Invitational Opener

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track & field concluded day one of the Bobcat Invitational with a strong showing across multiple disciplines, highlighted by several event wins and podium finishes Thursday at the Texas State Track & Field Complex.

At the Texas Relays, Elisabet Runarsdottir claimed the women's hammer throw title with a mark of 69.89 meters (229-03).

Back in San Marcos, the Bobcats saw success in the throws, jumps and on the track, led by Daniel Strooh, who won the men's discus (A section) with a throw of 59.17m (194-01). Cassandra Rendon added a third-place finish in the women's discus (49.64m/162-10).

In the pole vault, Breanna Brandes took first in the women's B section with a clearance of 3.90m (12-9.50), while Connor Skopik won the men's B section at 5.00m (16-4.75).

Texas State also dominated the horizontal jumps, as Giovonni Walker won the men's long jump (B section) with a leap of 7.79m (25-6.75).

In the javelin, Charlize Goody recorded a first-place finish in the women's competition with a throw of 50.07m (164-3), while Connor Warzecha placed third in the men's event (64.75m/212-05).

On the track, the Bobcats swept the podium in the men's 110-meter hurdles (B section). Ja'Shaun Lloyd led the way with a winning time of 13.61 seconds, followed by Joshua Taylor (14.02) and Arveyon Davis (14.04).

In the sprints, Drew Donley captured the men's 100-meter title (B section) in 10.38, while Ty'Shaun Lloyd placed second in 10.47. On the women's side, Paige Archer finished second in the 100 meters (11.63).

Texas State continued its momentum in the 400 meters, where Kerrah Evans won the women's race (55.43) and Sai Brookins followed with a second-place finish (55.84). Mihajlo Katanic added a third-place finish in the men's 400 meters (48.31).

In the men's 200 meters (B section), Aiden Sheffield placed third with a time of 21.20.

The distance events were another highlight for the Bobcats. Texas State swept the podium in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, led by Alexia Macias, who won with a personal-best and conference-leading time of 10:55.78. Sofia Pena finished second (11:22.14), followed by Destiney Rose in third (11:27.91).

In the multi-events, Easton Hammond leads the decathlon after day one with 4,046 points, posting top-three finishes in multiple events including first in the long jump (7.09m/23-3.25) and high jump (2.08m).

On the women's side, Sophie Daugard sits second in the heptathlon with 3,203 points, while Bostyn Baskin is in third with 3,146 points.

Texas State will return to action Friday at 10 a.m. for day two of the Bobcat Invitational.
