Runarsdottir, Lloyd Earn Second Shared SBC Weekly Honors of Season

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field standouts Elisabet Runarsdottir and Ja'Shaun Lloyd have been named Sun Belt Conference Athletes of the Week following a series of elite performances this past weekend in California.

Runarsdottir claimed the women's award after a dominant weekend in the hammer throw, capturing two event titles with throws exceeding 70 meters.

She opened with a first place mark of 70.96 meters at the Pacific Coast Invitational before following it with a conference and South Central Region leading throw of 72.89 meters to win the Mt. SAC Relays elite section.

Her 72.89 meter mark currently ranks No. 2 in the nation this season, No. 9 all-time in NCAA history, and moved her to No. 3 all-time in Texas State program history.

The performance also broke the Icelandic national record for the second time this season, further solidifying her position among the top throwers in the country.

Lloyd earned the men's honor after delivering one of the top sprint hurdle performances in the nation.

The freshman posted a wind-aided time of 13.42 seconds in the men's 110-meter hurdles elite section at the Mt. SAC Relays, a mark that ranks No. 3 in Texas State program history and stands as the fourth fastest time in NCAA history by a freshman.

He also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, adding another strong showing against a highly competitive field.

This marks the second time this season that Runarsdottir and Lloyd have earned Sun Belt weekly honors in the same week.

Texas State will continue its outdoor season this weekend as they travel to the J. Fred Duckett Twilight in Houston, Texas, as the Bobcats gear up for the postseason.
