SAN MARCOS, Texas – After a weekend on the road, Texas State (25-15) is back home on Tuesday to take on UIW (18-19). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Irvine-Rasmussen Ballpark.

The Bobcats are coming off being swept over the weekend at then 22-ranked Southern Miss. The team is 5-4 in midweek games with a 5-1 record at home. TXST is 19-6 in its home ballpark and with a victory will reach 20 wins for the first time since 2023.
Rashawn Galloway enters the week hitting .345 with a team-high 59 base knocks, 19 doubles and three triples. His double mark is tied for the ninth most in a season in team history and he needs three more to set a new program record. The Borne, Texas native has also scored 35 runs, driven in 35 and hit six home runs.
The trio of
Jackson Cotton (42 R, 30 RBI),
Dawson Park (.321, 49 RBI) and
Jaquae Stewart (42 RBI) has hit a team leading 12 homers apiece. Also joining them in the double-digit homer club is
Manny Salas (.313, 40 R, 32 RBI) with 10.
In 22 games,
Ethan Farris has smacked eight long balls, plated 25 runs and scored 24 times. The redshirt sophomore sports a 1.185 OPS and a .358 batting average.
Slated to make his third start of the season on the rubber is
Titan Targac. The left-hander is 1-3 with one save, a 7.50 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 18.0 innings spanning 12 games.
ABOUT UIW
The Cardinals will be playing their first game in a week following a bye week in Southland Conference play. Their last game was a 13-8 victory at Texas Tech last Tuesday. UIW is 7-11 on the road this year with a 2-4 mark in midweek games.
Preston Newberry is hitting a team-high .351 with eight home runs, seven doubles, 37 runs, 28 RBI and seven stolen bases. Also hitting over .300 is Drake Anderson (.303, 23 RBI), Christian Enriquez (.347, 24 RBI), Tony DeJesus (.314, 30 R) and Jake Weaver (.317, 6 HR, 3 3B, 36 RBI).
Former Bobcat
Cole Tabor leads the squad with 11 homers and 41 RBI while hitting .275.
Trent Rucker, another former TXST player, has hit eight round trippers and is 8-for-8 stealing bases.
UIW's starting pitcher is still to be announced.
SERIES VS. CARDINALS
Texas State leads the all-time series 30-12. Last season saw the Cardinals win the lone meeting 7-6 in San Antonio that snapped a five-game winning streak in the series for the Bobcats.
At home, TXST is 23-7 all-time and have won the last 11 meetings. The most recent win in the series came at home by a 10-0 score in seven innings on Mar. 23, 2024.
