Bobcats Head to Waco for ITA Texas Regional Championships

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State women's tennis heads to Waco, Texas, this week to compete in the ITA Texas Regional Championships, hosted by Baylor University at the Hurd Tennis Center.

The Bobcats will send six players to the regional, which begins Thursday, Oct. 8.

Mauchi is the lone Bobcat to begin singles play in the main draw, which starts Friday. The other five Bobcats will begin competition Thursday in the qualifying draw. Players must win two matches Thursday to advance to the main draw.

All three Texas State doubles teams earned spots in the main draw, which begins Friday.

Texas State Doubles Teams: The Bobcats enter the Texas Regional following a quick turnaround from the River State Shoot-Out, which concluded Sunday.

Texas State posted strong performances in both singles and doubles play, finishing the three-day event with a 21-13 overall record, including a 14-8 mark in singles and a 7-5 record in doubles. The Bobcats' 21 victories were the most of any team in the tournament.

Three Texas State newcomers went undefeated in singles play at the River State Shoot-Out. Arant, Kuehbauer and VanPelt each finished 3-0 in singles play and will look to carry that momentum into this weekend's regional.

Results from the ITA Texas Regional Championships can be found on the ITA website and the Texas State women's tennis schedule.
