NEW ORLEANS – Senior
Rashawn Galloway continued swinging a hot bat last week in helping Texas State to a sweep of 25th-ranked Louisiana. His performance was rewarded by being chosen as the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Â
Galloway hit a team best .500 (8-for-16) with two home runs, seven RBI and scored six runs over four games last week. He recorded a base knock in each contest to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
Â
Last Tuesday, the Boerne, Texas native went 2-for-4 with an RBI at 23-ranked Texas A&M. He followed with a 1-for-3 day that saw him double and come around to score in the opener against the Ragin' Cajuns.
Â
Galloway kicked started the offense in the series clinching win with a three-run home run in each of his first two at bats of the day. The senior wrapped up the weekend going 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a run-rule victory to complete the sweep of Louisiana.
Â
It is the first time since 2024 that a Bobcat was named the conference's Player of the Week. Galloway also joins pitchers
Kyle Froehlich and
Jesus Tovar in earning Sun Belt weekly honors this season.
Â
Next up for TXST is a meeting tonight against UTRGV at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark that will include a Spanish language broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM.
