Bobcats Host Louisiana in First Sun Belt Home Series

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The first Sun Belt Conference home series for Texas State (12-8, 0-3 Sun Belt) is this weekend when Louisiana (16-5, 2-1 Sun Belt) comes to Bobcat Ballaprk. Friday's opener is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. followed by a 2:30 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and a 1 p.m. start for Sunday's finale.
 
All three contests will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.

Friday: TXST RHP Kyle Froehlich (2-1) vs. LA RHP Sawyer Pruitt (2-1)
Saturday: TXST RHP Sam Hall (1-0) vs. LA LHP Andrew Herrmann (3-0)
Sunday: TXST LHP Jesus Tovar (4-1) vs. LA RHP JR Tollett (4-0)
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats have dropped their last five games after falling on the road to 23rd-ranked Texas A&M on Tuesday. This week, Texas State plays four consecutive games against ranked opponents which last happened in 2023. At home, TXST is 9-3 on the year with series victories over Gonzaga and Washington State and a sweep of Niagara.
 
Rashawn Galloway comes in on a 13-game hitting streak. During that span, the senior is hitting .481 (26-for-54) with 12 RBI, 12 runs and nine doubles. He is batting .373 for the season and is joined by Manny Salas (.343) with an average over .300.
 
Leading the team with five home runs is freshman Jackson Cotton, who has scored 16 runs, driven in 14 and stolen eight bases. Dawson Park leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 27 RBI while hitting four homers.
 
Kyle Froehlich will make his sixth consecutive Friday start and enters the game with a 2-1 record, 4.98 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. Sam Hall gets the ball on Saturday and has struck out 11 in 8.0 innings spanning four starts. Rounding out the rotation is Jesus Tovar. The lefty is 4-1 with a 2.49 ERA and has struck out a team-high 26.
 
ABOUT LOUISIANA
The Ragin' Cajuns come in on a three-game winning streak after defeating Houston on the road Wednesday night in 10 innings. They opened conference play with a series win over South Alabama home. Louisiana is 4-1 this season when playing on the road with the lone loss coming in the series finale at Dallas Baptist on Mar. 8.
 
Colt Brown is the lone Cajun hitting over .300 with a .351 mark. He has a team-high nine doubles and driven in 13 runs. A team best three home runs have come from Donovan LaSalle (13 R, 7 RBI) and Rigoberto Hernandez (13 RBI). Nine players have swiped at least three bases with a team-high six coming from Maddox Mandino.
 
Sporting a 1.74 ERA and 33 strikeouts is Sawyer Pruitt, who will start Friday's opener. Andrew Herrmann will get the ball on Saturday and comes in with a 3-0 record, 2.88 ERA, a staff-high 44 strikeouts and tossed two complete games. Rounding out the weekend rotation will be JR Tollett, who is 4-0 with a 5.28 ERA and 50 punch outs in 29.0 innings.
 
SERIES VS. RAGIN' CAJUNS
Louisiana leads the all-time series 34-23. Last season, Texas State dropped the series opener but won the last two contests to claim the road series. When hosting the Cajuns, the Bobcats are 10-9 all-time after being swept the last time the teams met in San Marcos in 2024. TXST's last win at home came in 2022 when it finished off a series sweep.
