NEW ORLEANS – Texas State senior Chase Mora was chosen to the All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason Team at third base on Wednesday, as announced by the league office. The Bobcats ended up coming in sixth in the coaches' preseason poll.
 
Mora led the team offensively last season with a .286 average, eight home runs, 16 doubles, 44 RBI and 44 runs. He also posted a .363 on-base percentage and was 13-for-16 stealing bases. His performance on the field earned him all-conference second team honors.
 
This is the second time that the Tomball, Texas native has been a preseason all-conference honoree. He was also chosen to the team in 2024 at second base after coming off a record-breaking freshman campaign.
 
In the coaches' poll, Texas State received 114 points to come in sixth. Coming in just ahead of the team was Marshall (129 pts) and Louisiana (126 pts) while finishing in front of Georgia Southern and Old Dominion, both of which totaled 104 points.
 
National runner-up Coastal Carolina was picked to finish first with 194 points and 12 of the 14 first-place votes. Southern Miss was second with 182 points and a first-place selection and Troy rounded out the top three with 166 points. Also receiving a first-place vote was Louisiana.
 
To start the 2026 season, the Bobcats host Niagara for a three-game series that begins on Friday, Feb. 13.
