Texas State Dominates SBC Indoor Track & Field Awards

Lloyd, Parra, Duron, Hayes honored; Frazier named men’s and women’s Coach of the Year

SAN MARCOS, Texas Texas State track and field earned five major Sun Belt Conference postseason awards following a historic indoor season that culminated in a sweep of the men's and women's conference championships.

Freshman Ja'Shaun Lloyd was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, senior Abigail Parra earned Women's Track Performer of the Year honors, and seniors Melanie Duron and Aiden Hayes were named the conference's Women's and Men's Field Performers of the Year, respectively.

Head coach John Frazier was also recognized as the Sun Belt Men's and Women's Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to a historic championship sweep.

Lloyd delivered one of the most impressive freshman campaigns in program history. In just five meets, he placed his name on the Texas State all-time top-10 list six times, including a school record in the 60 meters. He led the Sun Belt for the majority of the season in both the 60 meters (6.60 seconds) and 60-meter hurdles (7.69), posting marks that ranked among the nation's elite.

Lloyd capped his season with a dominant performance at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, winning the 60 meters (6.68) and 60-meter hurdles (7.91) while finishing second in the 200 meters (21.07). He totaled 29.5 points to earn men's high-point scorer honors, which is the highest individual total at the conference meet since 2011. Lloyd played a pivotal role in Texas State's team title.

Parra put together one of the most decorated seasons in both program and conference history. She recorded three first-place finishes during the regular season, broke two Texas State school records and was named Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week twice. Parra opened the season with a program-record 9:29.24 in the 3,000 meters before later breaking the school record in the mile with a time of 4:40.41.

At the conference championships, she captured titles in the mile (4:43.08) and 800 meters (2:13.68) and earned silver in the 3,000 meters (9:46.12). Her mile performance set a Sun Belt meet record, and she finished the meet with 28 points to be named the women's high-point scorer.

Duron continued her dominance in the throws, leading the Sun Belt in the shot put throughout the indoor season. She recorded four top-three finishes, including two victories, and steadily improved her marks with throws of 16.58 meters, 16.61 meters and a season-best 17.01 meters.

Duron secured her second consecutive Sun Belt Indoor shot put title with that 17.01-meter throw at the conference championships, contributing key points to the team's victory.

Hayes solidified his standing as one of the nation's premier high jumpers during the indoor season. He finished inside the top three in each of his three meets and posted marks of 2.14 meters, 2.15 meters and a season-best 2.22 meters.

At the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, Hayes cleared 2.22 meters to break the conference meet record and share the high jump title. The mark tied him for fourth nationally and secured his qualification for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Frazier guided the Bobcats to both the men's and women's Sun Belt Indoor Championships for the first time in program history.

The men captured their first conference indoor title since 2016 with 140.5 points, while the women secured back-to-back championships and their sixth overall indoor title with 126.5 points.

His recognition as both the men's and women's Coach of the Year underscored a season defined by depth, record-breaking performances and championship success.
