Women's Basketball Continues Road Trip to South Alabama, Southern Miss

MOBILE, Alabama — Texas State women's basketball stays on the road for two more games at South Alabama and Arkansas State. Both will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
ABOUT THE JAGUARS
  • South Alabama enters the week with a 9-14 record on the year and are 2-10 in Sun Belt play. 
  • The Jaguars are led by head coach Yolisha Jackson who is in third second season in charge of the program, she has a 24-61 record in her tenure.
  • Cordasia Harris leads the Jaguars with an average of 15.43 points per game. She is one of three Jaguars players averaging double-digits a night, alongside Amyah Sutton (11.52) and Daniela Gonzalez (10.04).
  • Harris leads the team in rebounding with an average of 8.83 per night.
SERIES HISTORY VS SOUTH ALABAMA
  • Texas State is 15-5 all-time against South Alabama.
  • Texas State won the last two meetings between the two teams. One by a 65-54 score on Jan. 11, 2025, and one by a 63-56 score on Feb. 28, 2025.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
  • Southern Miss enters the week with a 12-12 record on the year and are 5-7 in Sun Belt play. 
  • The Golden Eagles are led by head coach Missy Bilderback who is in her 1st season leading the program after spending two seasons with ULM. She has a 44-45 record in her three seasons as a Division I coach.
  • Jakayla Johnson leads the Golden Eagles with an average of 14.8 points per game. She is one of five Golden Eagles averaging double digits, alongside Hayleigh Breland (12.7), Meloney Thames (12.4), Sakyia White (11.3), and Carly Keats (10.8).
  • Defensively, White leads the way with 7.9 rebounds per game. 
  • Southern Miss will play the ULM Warhawks before the Bobcats arrive in Hattiesburg.

  • The Bobcats are led by Head Coach Zenarae Antoine who is the winningest coach in program history, the lone with over 200 career wins. 
  • Leading the scoring for Texas State is Saniya Burks who averages 14.0 points per game and has six games with 20+ points this season.
  • Sophomore Kyra Anderson is the team's second leading scorer with 13.1 points per night, but she also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.3 per game.

  • Texas State will come home for its final two home games of the regular season after the trips to Mobile and Hattiesburg. Texas State will host Arkansas State on Feb. 18 at 7 pm as part of the team's Black History Month celebrations. The team will then celebrate Senior Night and Alumni Night on Feb. 21 against South Alabama to close out the home slate for the season.
