SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier has announced the addition of Morgan Greene as an assistant coach. Greene arrives in San Marcos following successful coaching stops at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State San Bernardino.
"We are thrilled to welcome Morgan to our program," Kielsmeier said. "Morgan has built an impressive resume as a coach and player, with experience developing talent at multiple levels and contributing to winning programs everywhere she has been. Her ability to mentor players, her passion for player development and her experience competing and coaching internationally will be tremendous assets for our student-athletes. Morgan is a relentless worker, an outstanding teacher of the game and someone who aligns perfectly with the culture we are building at Texas State."
Greene joins the Bobcats after one season at Cal State Fullerton, where she helped guide the Titans to an 18-14 record and a 13-7 mark in Big West play during the 2025-26 season. The campaign marked just the program's second winning season since 1990-91 and produced its highest conference win total in more than 30 years. Working primarily with Titan post players, Greene helped mentor Cristina Jones to Big West Co-Hustle Player of the Year honors, All-Big West First Team recognition and a spot on the conference All-Defensive Team. She also helped Nicole Steiner earn All-Big West Freshman Team accolades. Under Greene's guidance, Fullerton led the conference in rebounding at 39.9 rebounds per game.
During three seasons at Cal State San Bernardino, Greene helped engineer a steady turnaround for the Coyotes. In 2024-25, the team posted its best season in a decade with a 16-12 record. The year before, Greene helped lead the program to its first postseason appearance since 2017 while producing four All-Conference selections for the first time since 2015. In 2022-23, the Coyotes recorded their first .500 season since 2016.
As a student-athlete, Greene had a standout career at Cal State East Bay, where she helped lead the Pioneers to two conference championships. During her sophomore season, she led both the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the nation in rebounds and double-doubles. A two-time All-CCAA selection, Greene scored more than 1,000 career points despite competing in just three seasons.
Greene played professionally as part of the championship-winning Team KPA (Kenya Port Authority) squad during the 2023 FIBA Africa Qualifiers in Rwanda and played for the Solent Kestrels in the United Kingdom, earning South Team MVP and Player of the Year honors while completing a Master of Science degree in Sports Science and Performance Coaching.
