Bobcats Continue Indoor Season at Ted Nelson Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field continues its indoor season this weekend when it travels to College Station to compete in the Ted Nelson Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M.

The two-day meet will begin Friday afternoon and conclude Saturday, with action resuming at 11 a.m.

The invitational will feature 11 teams: Baylor, East Texas A&M, Houston, New Mexico Junior College, North Texas, Odessa College, Rice, Texas A&M, Texas State, Utah State and UTSA.

Competition opens Friday at 4 p.m. with the men's and women's weight throw. Field events resume Saturday morning at 11 a.m., beginning with the shot put, pole vault and long jump.

Texas State opened its indoor season last weekend at the Arkansas Invitational, where seven men's sprinters represented the Bobcats. Senior Drew Donley highlighted the meet by winning the 60-meter dash in 6.72 seconds, a time that currently leads the Sun Belt Conference. Donley also placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.03, ranking second in the league.

Freshman Ja'Shaun Lloyd made his collegiate debut in Fayetteville, capturing the 60-meter hurdles title in 7.74 seconds. His mark ranks first in the Sun Belt and is tied for 16th nationally.

The Bobcats enter the weekend building off a strong 2025 indoor campaign that featured a Sun Belt Conference championship on the women's side and a third-place conference finish by the men.

This weekend's meet will mark the first full-squad competition of the season for Texas State. The Bobcats return several key contributors, including six All-Sun Belt indoor performers on the women's roster.

Among the returners is reigning Sun Belt Indoor shot put champion Melanie Duron, an All-Sun Belt First Team selection, along with 2024 national champion Elisabet Runarsdottir, who is competing in her senior season.

On the men's side, four All-Sun Belt indoor athletes return. Junior Henry Buckles, the 2025 Sun Belt Indoor shot put champion, is back for the Bobcats, along with senior Aiden Hayes, an All-Sun Belt Second Team honoree who will make his season debut.

Live results will be available online throughout the weekend, and Saturday's events will be streamed live via SEC+.
