SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the second straight week, a Texas State soccer player took home a weekly conference honor. This time it was Mady Soumare being recognized as the Sun Belt Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
 
The senior forward recorded her first multi-point match of the season with a goal and an assist in Saturday's 2-1 win over Georgia State. She has now recorded a goal or an assist in the last three matches, all of which have been Bobcat victories.
 
Soumare recorded the second assist on Helen Alormenu's match-tying goal in the 58th minute. The Parisian knocked in the match-winning tally with just over three minutes left on the clock off a rebounded header attempt from Alexis Montgomery that clanked off the left post.
 
The goal for Soumare was her 16th in a Bobcat uniform and the seventh being a match-winner. She is one goal away from cracking the program's career top 10 list.
 
For Soumare, it is her second career weekly Sun Belt honor. Her first came last season following the regular season finale. This season she joins Brooklyn Escobar, who was last week's defensive player of the week, in receiving a player of the week accolade from the conference.
 
Next up Soumare and the Bobcats is a trip to Jonesboro, Arkansas to take on Arkansas State. Kickoff for Thursday's match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
