SAN MARCOS, Texas – Saturday will see Texas State (5-2-3, 2-0-1 Sun Belt) host Georgia State (6-4-1, 2-1-0 Sun Belt) from the Bobcat Soccer Complex for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The match will not be streamed on ESPN+ but fans can follow live stats that will be available. Admission is free for all home matches.
About Texas State
The Bobcats head into Saturday with a 12-match unbeaten home streak in Sun Belt Conference play that is the longest active mark in the league and one away from matching the program record. They have claimed the last two matches by 1-0 scores over Georgia Southern and Troy at home on Sunday.
Both
Constance Agyemang and
Katrin Agustsdottir have recorded a team-high four goals. Chipping in three goals has been
Helen Alormenu and
Victoria Meza, who has scored twice against Sun Belt opponents. The duo of
Sadie Guzman and
Mady Soumare have found the back of the net twice.
A team-high four assists have been credited to both
Helen Alormenu and
Matsuri Tsutsui while the trio of
Katrin Agustsdottir,
Lilah Dupree and Chleo Jones have three apiece.
Brooklyn Escobar has started all 10 matches in goal. She enters the weekend with a 1.46 GAA having made 33 saves with a .717 save percentage. The freshman recorded back-to-back shutouts last weekend to earn her first career Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honor.
About Georgia State
The Panthers are coming off a 3-2 loss on Sunday night at Marshall despite the Thundering Herd playing with just 10 players for the final 75 minutes. GSU opened conference play with wins over App State and Southern Miss at home. When playing on the road, the Panthers are 1-3-1 this season with the lone victory being a 2-1 contest at Florida.
Hina Suzuki has scored a team-high six goals with three coming in the season opener against Truett-McConnell and has scored twice in league play. Emily Glenn comes in with four goals that includes a brace versus Kennesaw State. Aaliyah Faddoul has netted three goals and leads the team with five assists, 62 shots and 33 shots on goal. She leads the nation with 5.64 shots per match and 3.00 shots on goal per match.
In goal, Ariana Anderson has started 10 contests. She has allowed 15 goals for a 1.53 GAA while making 41 saves with a .732 save percentage. Alondra Iriate has appeared in two matches and made one start between the posts. The sophomore made four saves against the Mountaineers in her lone start.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 6-4-1 but has seen Georgia State win two of the last three meetings. Last time the teams played was on Sept. 29, 2023 in Atlanta with the Panthers claiming the contest 1-0 behind a 69th minute goal.
When hosting GSU, the Bobcats are 4-0-1 all-time. A 1-0 contest took place the last time the teams played in San Marcos on Sept. 19, 2021 with the lone goal being scored by Olivia Wright in the 73rd minute. The lone draw in the series was a 1-1 contest at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Oct. 19, 2018. Kaylee Davis converted a penalty kick late in the 82nd minute for the tying tally.
