DESTIN, Florida – Texas State's
Sakke Siltala turned in his first top 10 finish of the young season, tying for ninth as the Bobcats hosted the Sandestin Collegiate Classic at the Sandestin Resort & Club in Destin, Florida.
The senior was one of three TXST players who signed for rounds in the 60s on the final day to bring his three-day total to 6-under 207. Siltala (70-70-67--207) registered 18 birdies across 54 holes, the second highest total at the event, which included seven in the final round in addition to an eagle on No. 15.
TXST (283-283-275--841) fired the low round of the day as a team at -9 to climb four spots on the leaderboard to finish sixth at -11. Middle Tennessee won the team title at -20 and featured the individual medalist in Carter Maneth at -16. Austin Peay and ULM tied for runner-up honors at -16.
"Great first year of the Sandestin Collegiate Classic. The golf course, the field, and the donors all put on a great show hosted by Texas State," said Head Coach
Shane Howell. "Our team finally woke up and played some good golf today. We need to find a way to put three rounds together in order to win tournaments. We get another chance in a few days in Colorado."
The low round individual of the day for TXST came from
Bryce Womack (72-70-66--208) who earned his second top 15 finish in as many tries as a Bobcat, signing for a 5-under 208 tournament to tie for 12th.
Ben Loveard (72-70-68--210) kept himself in the top 20 of tournament action for 2025-26 securing a tie for 19th place after going -3 across the final 18.
Rounding out the Bobcat lineup were
Enzo Dakiche (71-73-74--218) and
Jose Manuel Berenguel Casas (70-73-76--219), who finished tied for 51st and tied for 60th, respectively.
