MADISON, Mississippi – In his final Sun Belt Conference Championship appearance, senior
Sakke Siltala led the Texas State men's golf team with a seventh-place finish, matching his best placement at the event over his four-year career as a Bobcat.
Siltala (69-73-70--212) signed for a pair of rounds under par, including a tournament-opening 69, to close the event at 4-under and tied for seventh. His 16 birdies tied for the most in the field, eight of which game on the first 18, and his 8-under on par 4s also led all golfers.
The Bobcats tied for 12th at the weather-plagued event that saw Wednesday's final round stretch into Thursday due to multiple delays. Costal Carolina (-14), No. 45 Arkansas State (-11), Southern Miss (-8) and South Alabama (-1) advanced to Semifinal Match Play as the top four teams after 54 holes.
Fellow senior
Ben Loveard (75-76-75--226) tied for 47th going 10-over for the event.
Bryce Womack (74-77-78--229),
Jose Manuel Berenguel Casas (80-75-76--231) and
Harrison Jaeger (79-82-78--239) were all making their first SBC Tournament appearance as part of the Bobcat lineup.
