SAN MARCOS, Texas – The final road game of the season for Texas State (25-26) will see the team travel to take on UTRGV (33-16) on Tuesday from UTRGV Baseball Stadium. First pitch for the contest is slated for 6:30 p.m.

Texas State is coming off a series at Georgia Southern that was altered by rain. The Bobcats dropped the doubleheader on Friday but salvaged the series on Saturday with a 4-1 victory. In midweek games, TXST is 6-6 with four of the victories coming against Power 4 teams (Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas A&M).

Chase Mora enters leading the team with a .303 batting average, 38 RBI, 13 doubles and seven home runs. He has scored 37 times, which is tied for the most on the team with Ryne Farber. The sophomore shortstop comes in batting .285 with 30 RBI, 12 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Farber is tied for second on the team with four long balls along with Ian Collier, Coy DeFury, Austin Eaton, Zachary Gingrich and Alan Shibley.

Making his first start since the end of March will be Jackson Teer. The right-hander is 1-5 with a 7.24 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He has made 10 appearances with seven of them being starts.

Appearing a team-high 22 times out of the bullpen has been Matthew Tippie, who sports a 3.12 ERA, 2-0 record, one save and staff-high 64 strikeouts. Carson Laws has earned eight saves while striking out 48 in 33.2 innings.

ABOUT UTRGV
The Vaqueros did not play this past weekend with their last game being May 6 at Baylor that saw them lose 10-7. UTRGV did claim a share of the Southland Conference regular season title with Southeastern Louisiana and will host one of the two first weekend brackets of the conference tournament this weekend. At home, the Vaqueros are 17-6 with a 2-1 record in midweek games that saw them beat Texas Southern twice while falling to Incarnate Word.

Five batters are hitting over .300 led by Armani Raygoza at .383. He also leads the team with 15 home runs, 54 RBI and 17 doubles while scoring 41 times. Jacob Sanchez (.333) has smacked eight round trippers with 29 RBI and Isaac Lopez (.349) enters with six homes, 49 runs scored and 38 RBI. Also batting over .300 are Steven Lancia (.333, 5 HR< 42="" rbi)="" and="" easton="" moomau="" (.318,="" 42="">

Scheduled to take the hill on Tuesday is Robert Bonilla. The right-hander is 1-3 with an 8.49 ERA and 21 strikeouts. He has made 13 appearances with two starts to total 23.1 innings. The senior has started the past two midweek games against Baylor and Texas Tech.

Steven Oliva has earned six of the team's 13 saves this season and sports a 1-2 record, 4.09 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 22 frames. Picking up four saves has been Harrison Thayer. The freshman right-hander is 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 16 games, including two starts. Jack Lopez (1-1, 7.81 ERA) has made a staff-high 22 relief outings.

SERIES VS. VAQUEROS
Texas State leads the all-time series 49-25. The Bobcats have won four straight in the series and 10 of the last 12 meetings. The two losses in that time both came in 10-inning contests.

When playing in Edinburg, TXST is 18-17 all-time. Last time the Bobcats hit the road was on Mar. 29, 2023 that ended in a 6-5 victory. All six runs came in the second inning that was capped off by a grand slam from Davis Powell.
